PARIS, TX-- Paris' 13th annual relay for life kicks off Friday night.
Starting Friday at 7 P.M, this year's relay will be at North Lamar Stadium, and will run until 7 A.M Saturday.
Around 700 people are expected to be at Friday's event, and over $45,000 has been raised so far.
As a 20 year breast cancer survivor, Event Chair Carolyn Lockett says the event isn't just about raising money.
"I made that promise way back then that if I survived that I would do what I could to help other people realize that cancer isn't necessarily a death sentence," said Lockett.
Lockett has been the event chair for four years and says she's confident the group will meet their goal of raising $50,000 for cancer research.
