PARIS, TX -- Paris I.S.D is using a new messaging system this school year to help them reach parents like never before.
The district already has a system in place where parents receive a phone call, but the new system will allow parents to add email and text alerts.
Messages will not only include emergency situations, but also general activities for each campus. It also allows school officials to narrow down messages to an individual teacher's class.
"The purpose was to get information out to parents as quickly as possible, should there ever been an incident at a campus or district wide," said Paris I.S.D Superintendent Paul Jones. "We want to be able to reach every parent by home telephone, cell phone, email or text message."
The district plans to release a mobile app in the near future that will work together with the new messaging system.
