PARIS, TX-- The Paris Police Department has announced it's support for National Severe Weather Preparedness Week.

The week is a nationwide effort to increase awareness of the risk of severe weather, and to encourage communities to be prepared for when mother nature strikes.

Police Chief Bob Hundley says this area has been struck several times with severe weather, and they do their best to make sure residents are safe.

"You need to respect the severe weather," said Chief Hundley. "The best thing we can do for it is let people to know that it is coming and give them enough time to where they can get some place safe."
