ADA, OK - A man arrested on drug charges was caught trying to sneak contraband into the Pontotoc County Jail.

Deputies arrested Carl Watham and Chelsi Smith Thursday.

The two were pulled over for weaving in traffic and discovered Watham was intoxicated. Smith attempted to flee from the scene, but was caught soon after. Deputies discovered several items in the car including drugs, needles, and knives.

When brought in to the county jail, Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian said, deputies found a small bag of meth in Watham's pocket.

"The likelihood of them getting past the first gate with contraband is not likely," said Christian.
