PARIS, TX-- If you're driving through downtown Paris you might notice the lights around Culbertson Fountain glowing a different color.
Throughout October, the lights will be pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.
At the last city council meeting, Mayor A.J. Hashmi proclaimed October as Breast Cancer Awareness month in the city of Paris.
Louise Moseley says lighting the lights is a great way to raise awareness for women in the area.
1 out of every 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and Moseley says seeing the pink lights will remind women that early detection is the key to fighting this disease.
"My biggest point in making the lights shine pink was for the people who have died from breast cancer to remember them, for the ones who have survived breast cancer and to remind women to go get a mammogram because it saves lives," said Louise Moseley.
Moseley praises city officials and council members for showing their support for the cause.
