DENISON, TX -- Saturday several people walked the plank right into Lake Texoma.

It was all part of the first annual Pirate Plank Walk. Participants boarded the Compass Rose, a pirate ship docked at Grandpappy Point Marina, and walked the plank in support of our veterans.

All money raised is going to Denison's Veterans of Foreign Wars Soldier Relief Fund -- which helps veterans, widows and their families during times of need. A couple thousand dollars was raised for the veterans.

"And all the money stays here locally and it was just fun way to give back to the community, but more importantly, give back to all the soldiers who have given so much for our country," Tami Odom said.

"If they can go to war, I can jump in some cold water," participant Bobby Defir said.

The Odom's say they plan to make this an annual event.
