Plumber, prosecutor face off for E. Okla. seat

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A plumbing company owner who pledges to be a citizen-legislator and a longtime prosecutor relying on an anti-abortion, pro-gun stance are seeking an open U.S. House seat in eastern Oklahoma.

Republican Markwayne Mullin of Westville faces Democrat Rob Wallace of Fort Gibson in Tuesday's general election. Independent Michael Fulks of Heavener is also running.

Mullin has campaigned against federal spending and expansion of the national debt, and fended off criticism that his company benefited from stimulus money. Wallace says he fits Oklahoma's conservative nature and is the better option to replace incumbent Dan Boren, who announced his retirement.

Boren's father David, a former U.S. senator and governor, is among those backing Wallace.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
