PONTOTOC COUNTY, OK -- A Pontotoc County detention officer has been arrested for multiple sex crimes against an inmate.

According to Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian, Kevin Clark, a Pontotoc County detention officer, was arrested Thursday afternoon on charges of Forcible Sodomy and two counts of Rape by Instrumentation of a female inmate at the Pontotoc County Justice Center.

The arrest came after a female inmate made the allegations of misconduct Monday and a deputy was assigned to investigate.

The inmate claims Clark let her our of her cell and cornered her on several occasions.

According to Christian, video evidence never showed the crimes happening, but did show Clark taking the inmate to the secluded areas and that "it is against Oklahoma Jail Rule Standards and the Policies and Procedures of the Pontotoc County Justice Center for a Detention Officer of one sex to be alone in the same room with an inmate of the opposite sex in most instances."

Pontotoc County District Attorney’s Office Investigator Heath Miller conducted the investigation and determined from the investigation that probable cause existed to arrest Clark for the charges.

Clark was booked into the Pontotoc County Justice Center on a $100,000 bond. He posted bail late Thursday evening.

Clark has been with the Pontotoc County Justice Center since August of 2013.
