PONTOTOC COUNTY, OK -- Pontotoc County commissioners are making progress on a railroad crossing that many residents considered unsafe.

According to District 2 Commissioner, Randy Floyd, stop signs were added on both sides of the railroad tracks on Simmons Lane, forcing drivers to pause before crossing.

Commissioners also unanimously approved to lower the speed limit from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.

He says the railroad division of ODOT will review the safety of the crossing in September.
