A Paris man convicted of manslaughter in 2002 is one step closer to getting a new trial.
After reviewing findings of fact Tuesday morning, District Judge Eric Clifford set a $75,000 bond for Danny Holloway and made a recommendation to the Texas Court of Criminal appeals to grant him a new trial.
Holloway was convicted 11-years ago for the stabbing death of Ashley Lee in 2001, a crime he claims he didn’t commit.
Eight years into his sentence the murder weapon came into question.
Lamar county has until next month to send the new findings to The Texas Court of Criminal appeals, which will determine whether Danny Holloway gets a new trial or not.
