Proposed Sherman apartments denied by Planning and Zoning

SHERMAN, TEXAS -- Sherman planning and zoning has voted down a zoning change that would allow a local developer to build new apartments.

At Tuesday night's meeting, committee members voted five to three against re-zoning an area off Travis and Highway 82. Blue Stone Partners were hoping to develop that property into family apartments.

Some committee members say they're concerned that the apartments would be built in a flood plain and would add more traffic.

This is the most recent of several attempts to zone that piece of land for apartments.
