Grayson County, Texas -- With the constant growth in and around Grayson county -- officials and residents are developing a long-term plan for a toll road.

The proposed 33 mile toll road would start at F-M 121 between Tioga and Gunter -- and end at highway 75 in Denison.

Tx-DOT officials met with more than 200 community members to get input about the proposed Grayson County Tollway.
They also updated residents on the progress of the tollway project study -- showing preliminary maps of recommended tollway routes and potential cost estimates.
So far, officials have narrowed down their study to six routes -- three in northern Grayson County and three in the southern part.
Officials say they are looking to put the route in an area that would relieve traffic congestion on US 75 through Sherman and Denison.
They also want to provide a system that connects Grayson County to the northern edge of the DFW metroplex.

Tx-DOT officials is they cannot construct the tollway until the demand is there. Right now -- they are talking about 2030 and beyond. They say it could happen a lot sooner depending on the population growth around Grayson County and how the populations move across the County.

If you would like to submit comments or ideas about the proposed tollway e-mail Noel.Paramanantham@txdot.gov or call Tx-Dot at (903) 737-9213
