Randy Travis cited for assault in Plano

PLANO, TX - Country music superstar Randy Tarvis is making headlines again, this time in Plano. Police have confirmed Travis was given a ticket for an assault overnight in a church parking lot.

Plano Police told The Dallas Morning News they responded to a disturbance around 10:30 last night at the Prestonwood Baptist Church. They say a verbal argument had taken place between a husband and wife, and at some point Travis assaulted the man. He was issued a citation for misdemeanor simple assault.

Police soon found out the wife was Travis' girlfriend. According to the report, police said there was no indication Travis was intoxicated.

This is the third run-in with police for Travis this year, the most recent being in Tioga earlier this month when he was arrested, naked, for driving while intoxicated after crashing his car (see mug shot). He was arrested in February for public intoxication in Denton County, also in a church parking lot.
