ARDMORE, OK -- Reality TV fans, start your engines. An online reality show will soon be rolling into Ardmore and they're inviting you for a behind the scenes look!
You may have seen it, the "Fireball Run". The online reality show is an 8 day, 2,000 mile, trivia game across the U.S.
Forty driving teams compete on a route through what creators call inspiring destinations across the United States.
And one of them, is Ardmore!
"This area is an economic hub and that met our first level of criteria. You have some wonderful museums out here, a lot of personality, and a lot of industry. And those things are going to be turned into the game that is the Fireball Run," says executive producer J. Sanchez.
He says during the series, cameras follow the teams on their 14 city adventure, in what he calls, a life-sized trivial pursuit game.
Chamber of Commerce president Mita Bates says, "What it does for us is it allows us to showcase our community and allows us a unique opportunity to showcase Ardmore and all the wonderful things that we have."
Thursday, Bates announced Ardmore will be featured on season 8 of "Fireball Run" airing this Fall.
She says it's a great opportunity for the city and the people who live here.
"They'll be going through downtown, we'll have some events, very family-friendly organized activities to welcome our teams into Ardmore," said Bates.
And Sanchez says the Fireball Run is more than just fun and games. The show's ultimate goal is described as "the race to recover America's missing children."
Sanchez said, "Each of the teams in Fireball Run are assigned a missing child from the hometown region and they're given about 1,000 posters to distribute from Frisco, Texas to 2,000 miles through here to Independence, Missouri."
Sanchez says, since 2007, the show has helped recover 42 missing children, and he invites you to come out and be a part of the show and it's mission.
He says, "Everything's going to happen live September 29th and we invite the public to come out downtown, meet the celebrity teams, see some of their fantastic rides from Fords to Ferraris and have a little fun with us."
