Rep. Tom Cole elected to 6th term in US House

MOORE, Okla. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Tom Cole has been elected to a sixth term in Oklahoma's 4th Congressional District.

The Moore Republican defeated Democrat Donna Bebo and independent R.J. Harris in Tuesday's election. Bebo is a political newcomer and Harris lost in the Republican primary to Cole in 2010.

Cole says he appreciates his opponents because they were offering voters a choice.

He says his goals for the coming two years include properly funding the military, extending the Bush-era tax cuts and trying to overturn the federal health care law.

Cole's win keeps the district in Republican hands for 10 consecutive terms. Cole first won the seat in 2002 after former GOP Congressman J.C. Watts held the seat for eight years, beginning in 1994.
