"Ride for the Red"

DENISON, TX -- It was a day of bike riding and cooking to help raise money for the Texoma Chapter of the American Red Cross.

After bikers rode in a 151 mile motorcycle run they got to enjoy tasty chili from 10 competitors. In the chili cook off Tim Yeary won people's choice and Scott and Pat Ledbetter won over the judges.

The 5th annual Ride for the Red was held at Loose Wheels in Denison. The event's mission is to prevent emergencies and to help those affected by disaster.

Sara Jerome, with the Texoma Chapter of the American Red Cross, says they raised about $30,000 dollars.

"It's touching, I mean that's why we do it. We fight hard to raise money, there's a lot of benefit companies in the area. There's a lot of people that need money," Jerome said.

"It's a lot of fun. We raised a lot of money for this organization, and we're happy to come out here and do this and we are ready to do it next year," Scott Ledbetter said.
