Rides for a Reason kicks off Saturday

PARIS, TX -- Founders of Dylan's Drivers Ronnie and Vicki Ballard ask a question that to some might seem impossible.

"What if there were no more alcohol related crashes?"

That has been the Ballard's mission ever since they lost their son, Dylan Ballard, to a drunk driving accident in August of 2011.

Today the Ballard's have a non-profit organization in Dylan's name called Dylan's Drivers, that offers free, confidential, safe rides home for people who have been drinking or those who just need a safe ride home.

This Saturday is Dylan's Drivers 2nd Annual Rides for a Reason fundraiser.

"We've got vendor booths this year, so things have grown as far as it was last year," said Ronnie Ballard. "Hopefully this will be something that will continue to grow." Ronnie Ballard.

This year Rides for a Reason added a motorcycle poker run with riders having a chance to win some big money.

"We're going to do a motorcycle poker run, sponsored by Harley Davidson, which is going to be a great event for people that ride bikes, because if they have the hidden hand they have a chance to win $20,000," said Dylan's Drivers Executive Director Paul Allen.

Saturday's event will have a classic car show, 5K run/walk, hamburger cook off and much more.

Events kick off at 8 am and run throughout the day.
