Riot after Roxton/Dodd City basketball game under investigation

ROXTON, TX - A riot broke out in Roxton after a basketball game Friday night.

According to the Lamar County Sheriff's Department tensions had been running high between the fans of Roxton and Dodd City High Schools. After Dodd City won the game, two opposing fans started to fight and a riot broke out. Sheriff B.J. McCoy said that 75 people were involved in the fight.

It took two undercover Fannin County officers, two Lamar County reserve officers, three on-duty deputies and several state troopers to quell the riot.

The Dodd City basketball team had to be escorted to the locker room for safety.

No arrests were made but the riot is still under investigation. Possible assault charges could be filed.
