DENISON, TX - More than 400 people are expected to get down and dirty this weekend to benefit area firefighters. Run for the Hills is the Grayson County's first mud-race and all proceeds will go to fire departments in the county.
The 5K track includes obstacles like tires, hanging bars, ay bails and ponds. The race starts at 8 o'clock Saturday morning at Loose Wheels in Denison. Firefighters say the funds will help restore resources that were depleted in last summer's grass fires.
"Yes, last year we did have a lot of grass fires, and equipment gets damaged and things like that, so we'll apply this money towards personal protective equipment or bunker gear, whatever we can use to help out in the future that's been neglected in the past," Lt. Caleeb Thompson of the Van Alstyne Fire Department says.
