OKLAHOMA -- Oklahoma Gas & Electric is warning customers about a prepaid debit card scam that's targeting utility customers.
They say, scammers are posing as electric company employees and calling customers to tell them they are behind on their electric bill customers are told to purchase a Green Dot prepaid debit card, load the card with money, and then provide the card number to the utility.
OG&E says they would never ask for a debit or credit card number over the phone.
Customers who believe they are a victim of a scam are urged to notify police or the state attorney general's office.
