SHERMAN, TX -- New SISD teachers got a warm welcome to the district Friday morning.

This was the 8th annual event and a record 95 teachers took part in the luncheon at the Sherman municipal building.

Superintendent Alan Hambrick gave a speech and each teacher received a door prize.

Chamber of Commerce President Eddie Brown says they love putting on the event.

"We do many events throughout the year, but helping bring new teachers and people to our community, welcome them here; it's a great opportunity for us," said Brown.

The first day of school is Monday August 25th.
