Sawyer man steals patrol unit, leads deputies on chase

CHOCTAW COUNTY, OK-- A Sawyer man is behind bars, facing several felony charges, accused of stealing a patrol unit and leading deputies on a chase.

Choctaw County Sheriff Terry Park says around midnight, 28 year old Darryl Hedrick was approached by Sawyer's Police Chief, then knocked the chief down and took off in his patrol car.

Deputies chased him down Old Paris Highway, and eventually ran him off the road.

The sheriff says Hedrick pulled a rifle from the patrol car, and a deputy fired in Hedrick's direction who dropped the rifle and ran off into the woods.

Hedrick was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, among others.
