LOVE COUNTY, OK -- Authorities have released the name of the man who drowned at Lake Murray today, the second victim in the past three days.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says, 24-year-old Rodney Hinez of Oklahoma City, drowned today at the marina beach area this morning and they found his body around 1PM.
They say this is the second drowning at Lake Murray in the past 72 hours.
Michael Groeber with OHP says Hinez and the woman he was with were in the water on the south side of the beach The man, who Groeber says Hinez could not swim, had stepped off of the rocks into deeper water, and was not wearing a life jacket.
On Sunday, Eduardo Luna of Oklahoma City, also drowned at Lake Murray in the Tipps Point area.
Groeber says these drownings are not related.
"This second drowning is highly unusual for Lake Murray, but it happens, people need to understand, the water is very un-forgiving. If you don't know how to swim, a life-jacket is your first point of rescue," said Groeber.
The Army Corps of Engineers says 90 percent of victims who drown, were not wearing life jackets.
