SHERMAN, TX -- Sherman police say the driver of a semi is lucky to be alive.

Police say around 10:30 Thursday night, he was headed south on Highway 75, when he fell asleep .

They say he left the highway near the Park Street exit. Officers say he plowed through a guardrail, and came to a stop in the creek.

Authorities say HazMat crews were called out due to fuel leaking into the water. It took 19 hours to pull the semi out of the creek.
