Sex offender arrested after attacking an officer with a knife

POTTSBORO, TX -- Pottsboro Police say a registered sex offender is facing several charges after allegedly attacking an officer with a pocket knife.

Just before 2 p.m. Friday afternoon officers responded to a disturbance call at a home on Huberta Road, where Kenneth Hollingsworth was allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a gun.

Authorities say Hollingsworth began stabbing himself in the leg and when police went to apprehend him Hollingsworth cut an officer on the hand.

Police say the officer is okay but that Hollingsworth was taken to a local hospital.

He's facing a charge of aggravated assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, and possession of a firearm by a Felon.
