SHERMAN, TX -- Authorities say the man arrested Thursday night after leading Sherman police on a high speed chase is a Sherman ISD coach and teacher.
26-year-old Billy Vernon Neal III, also known as "Trey", is an assistant football and basketball coach and math teacher at Sherman High School.
Sherman Police say they pulled Neal over after he hit two guardrails on U.S 75 heading south but drove off, leading police on a high speed chase. Officers say they deployed spikes and arrested Neal when he lost his front tire and crashed in a wooded area. He's charged with a DWI and evading arrest.
Sherman ISD tells News 12 they have no comment as any consequences are private and a personnel issue.
We reached out to Coach Neal, and his attorney contacted us saying they have no comment at this time.
