Sherman ISD mourns loss of principal

SHERMAN, TX - Sherman ISD officials confirmed that Sheryl Powers, Neblett Elementary principal, passed away Wednesday morning.

“First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the Powers family,” said Dr. Al Hambrick, SISD superintendent. “We also lift up our prayers and thoughts to Neblett staff, students, parents and the entire SISD family.”

The news of Powers’ death weighed heavily on the Neblett campus and throughout the district.

“Ms. Powers absolutely loved her students and her staff. She cared a great deal for them, and was always so proud of their accomplishments and hard work. She was a hard worker, and a beloved leader in the Sherman ISD family,” said Dr. Al Hambrick, SISD superintendent. “She has a long, meaningful history in the district, and she will certainly be missed.”
