SHERMAN, TX - Sherman police say a man wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon turned himself in to police Thursday afternoon.

Police say 25-year-old Steven Foust broke into a home in the 1400 block of N. Ricketts Monday.

Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the resident was home, and tried to hold Foust down while he waited for police to arrive. However, Foust was able to break free, he said.

Hampton said Foust threw a chair at the resident, and tried to stab him with a knife.

He said Foust escaped on a bicycle.

"They tried to search for him, in the areas that they knew that he might be staying - at his residence or anywhere he might work, or friends - and was unable to locate him. So obviously he is on the run," Hampton said.

Police say Foust and the resident of the home know each other. Hampton said Foust and the resident's son ride to work together.
