SHERMAN, TX -- A car crashed into a local auto sales building Sunday night injuring two people in Sherman.

A car uprooted a tree and slammed into a building around 8:15 p.m. hospitalizing two of three passengers.

Police say the male, a 36 year old double-leg amputee who was driving the car specially designed for him, is now at TMC for a head laceration. The 19 year old female in the back seat was taken by ambulance to Texas Health WNJ for abdomen pain caused by the seat belt. All air bags deployed.

Witnesses told police the car swerved going 60 to 80 miles per hour on what looked like a joy-ride through a 30 mile per hour zone. The black Dodge ripped through a tree at the intersection of Lamar and Dewey Avenue, dragging it about 75 feet before crashing into the Alright Auto Sales Building.

The gas line and breaker box of the building were damage so officials cut immediately cut off power. They're both scheduled for repair Monday. No one in the building has been reported hurt.

Sherman P.D. confirms the cause of the wreck is under investigation and criminal charges are still pending.
