VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- A Sherman doctor was arrested in Van Alstyne Wednesday afternoon after leading police on a high speed chase.
Officers say 63-year-old Kamal-Singh Rathod, was traveling 90 miles an hour on southbound U.S. Highway 75 when they attempted to pull him over and he led them on a pursuit.
Officers says Rathod passed cars on the shoulder, then turned down County Line Road and Farmington Road, hit a guardrail, went airborne, and crashed his BMW into a bridge.
Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ officials confirm Rathod is a cardiologist at the hospital.
Van Alstyne Police Chief Tim Barnes spoke about the pursuit.
"Once he saw the officer, he continued to increase his speed, took this exit, and as you can see was traveling quite fast, to be able to do this kind of damage."
Rathod is being held at the Grayson County Jail for evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
No one was injured during the chase.
