DENISON,TX---A Sherman girl will compete in the regional spelling bee in Dallas in March after placing first today at Grayson College.

Sarah McGinn and Rafe McConnell were two of five grayson county students who competed today at Grayson College in the local spelling bee.

The students spelled a number of words and say they practiced many nights for the event.

McGinn won first place and McConnell was the runner up.

McGinn received second place last year and says she's excited to win this time.

"I really wanted to win last year, and I was kind of disappointed that I only got second, but now that I got first I feel really really happy." said McGinn.

McGinn's winning word: caucasian.
