Sherman man arrested after high speed chase

SHERMAN, TX - A Sherman man has been arrested after leading officers on a high speed chase Thursday night.

Police pulled over 26-year-old Billy Vernon Neal after seeing him swerve and hit two guardrails on U.S. Highway 75 heading south. Once officers pulled Neal over in the 1400 block of South Sam Rayburn Freeway, he began to drive away.

The pursuit continued onto North FM-1417 where officers deployed spike strips. Shortly after, Neal lost his front tire and crashed into a wooded area at the intersection of Highway 11 and Old Ida Road.

He is being charged with a DWI and evading arrest. He is being held at the Grayson County Jail. No one was injured during the pursuit.
