SHERMAN, TX - A Sherman hospital is closing due to bankruptcy, and some employees may not get their paychecks.

According to several sources with knowledge of the situation, Life Center Specialty Hospital will close its doors for good today, and some employees may not be getting paychecks...

We're told all the patients in the hospital will be taken care of.

Life Center Specialty is a 60-room non profit hospital that reopened back in 2009 after it'd closed due to bankruptcy.

We'll have more on this later tonight on First News.

Life Center was indeed a blessed place to work. It employeed caring, loyal employees, in every department, willing to go the extra mile for our patients and each other.

For Amy and the rest of the employees, you need to do the following: Get with a local bankruptcy attorney and have them file a claim in the bankruptcy case for you. As an employee who is owed a paycheck from the bankrupt business, you are a creditor of that bankrupt business and can file a creditor's claim. If you can't afford an attorney, go and register on PACER ( for free and search which court is handling their bankruptcy case, and that court's website will have pro bono help for you in filing a claim.

Ok. Here's the deal. I worked in the cafeteria and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it. It was a great place to work. The patients were always put first. The people in that hospital were AMAZING caretakers(let me rephrase that careGIVERS). We were told we would get paid, we don't know when but we would get paid. We do not deserve to loose everything. It is an unfortunate thing that happened. Beyond our control. So I would appreciate all those that are saying bad things to stop. If you don't know the facts KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!!!!

I think that the behavior of the people with financial interests in the "other" specialty hospital" down the road is despicable. Pretty good when they can actually go around for months slandering Life Center, calling DSHS with false health violation accusations and forcing almost weekly "surprise" inspections (of which all were exemplary). My personal opinion is that these individuals deserve to lose EVERYTHING. Their reputations are already tarnished beyond repair.
