ADA, OK - A major winter storm is buried parts of western Oklahoma and Texas with more than a foot of snow, tropical storm force winds and zero visibility.

Texas governor Rick Perry says state workers and equipment are being mobilized to help stranded motorists as snowfall in the Panhandle nears record levels.

Governor Mary Fallin requested a State of Emergency for 56 Oklahoma counties due to the excessive snow and severe weather.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has closed all highways in the Panhandle and much of the state's northwest because of blizzard conditions.
