SPRINGER, OK - The town of Springer held the grand opening for their new park Saturday afternoon.

People were invited to try out the new picnic tables, grills, playground equipment and basketball court.

The park was paid for by the town's general fund and is located on Main Street next to city hall.

The city spent 6 months making the project a reality.

Vice mayor Joyce South explained why they took on building this park.

"People came up here, had a picnic and before they were not able to do that," said South. "And now they are. And there's a place for the children to play."

The kickoff event included a free lunch from vendors who donated food.
