Standoff in McCurtain Co. ends peacefully

MCCURTAIN COUNTY, OK -- A 17-hour armed standoff in McCurtain County ended peacefully Friday afternoon.

The McCurtain County Gazette reports a 68-year old man called the sheriff's office around 8 p.m. Friday night saying he kidnapped and buried two girls alive.

When deputies got to the house, the man barricaded inside the house with a shotgun and reportedly said he'd kill any officer who came into his home.

Just after 1 p.m. Friday afternoon the man walked out and surrendered.

Officers did not find anyone else inside the home and are still searching the surrounding area.
