OKLAHOMA--In an effort to improve the safety of area lakes, State Representative Pat Ownbey has requested that a study be done at all Oklahoma State Parks.

The request comes on the heels of a deadly boating accident that claimed the life of an Ardmore woman on Lake Murray.

Ownbey said in a statement, "I was dismayed to hear about this accident and I would like to see what options the state has to improve the safety of Oklahomans when they are visiting state-owned parks."

If the measure passes, a study would be performed that compares Oklahoma's safety laws, to that from other states, in regards to open containers, boating safety and boat training for minors.
