Study: 16% of young adults are unemployed

DENISON, TX-A study shows that young adults are having a hard time finding jobs.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 16.5 percent of 18 to 24 year olds are unemployed. Texoma Workforce Solution's Bob Rhoden said people in that age group are having to compete with older employees who have more experience. He said it's important for young adults to get that experience through volunteering and internships.

"A lot of times, young people don't think that they don't need a resume. If they've done volunteer work, if they've done extracurricular activities while they were in high school or college, they need to put that information down on paper and be able to show it to a potential employer," he said.

Texoma Workforce solutions also offers an in-school program that can help provide training for young people.
