Sherman, Texas -- With kids getting out of school -- many Texoma families are making summer travel plans....and local experts are offering tips on how you can get the best deals.
With the obvious pain at the pump -- and soaring airfares you'd think people would scale back on summer vacations-- but local experts like Vickie White say more and more Texomans are feeling the travel bug.
"Business was down in 2009 and we saw it come up a little bit last year and I'm seeing it recover this year,"said White.
Even during tough economic times people are pinching pennies throughout the year -- to save up for a small get-a-way during the summer months.
"People are still being very practical, their wanting the best deal for their dollar, but what's happening is a lot of people put off travel for the last couple of years so their ready to go somewhere this year," said White.
Local agents like Dee Lough at Travel Partners in Sherman also says many of her clients are more optimistic about travel -- and many families are saving money by staying close to home.
Experts say many are looking for the best way to save on their summer travel -- so they're urging people to book their vacations as soon as they set a date.
"Don't stress yourself out, go ahead and find your date, find where you want to go. We do guarantee pricing and if the price goes down before you book we can try to protect you on those fares,"said White.
Another way many are saving on summer vacations is hitting the web, finding sites that promise cheap airfares or inexpensive hotel stays...but travel agents say they have more resources to help you get the best deal possible.
"I'm sort of your advocate you know me you know where I am and if you have a problem I can help you work through it,"said White.
