PARIS, TX-- Talk of an indoor recreation center is heating up in Paris.
During Monday's Paris City Council meeting, Mayor A.J. Hashmi and Councilman Aaron Jenkins looked into the idea of purchasing Paris Junior College's Recreation Center.
The two said that the center, that includes an indoor pool, basketball court, workout space and racquetball courts, could be purchased for $400,000.
"I think it's definitely a very promising possibility, said Recreation Supervisor Sally Wright. "I think the city of Paris needs a rec center, I think the citizens of the city deserve a rec center and I think it's just a great move for us."
The plan would also include selling the city pool and the five and half acres it sits on for $500,000. The council plans to discuss the possible purchase at a future meeting.
