DENISON, TX - The Texas Legislature is still debating on budgets for state parks, but now Senator Craig Estes of Wichita Falls and Representative Lyle Larson are joining in with park advocates to ask legislators to prioritize park funding.
They're asking the legislature to stop the diversion of the sporting goods sales tax which funds Texas parks.
Eisenhower State Park Superintendent Paul Kisel says even if there are cuts to funding... It won't affect their patrons.
Kisel says, "Any time that the legislature starts talking budget cuts we start looking at what it effects the state parks and the state park staff."
As of right now there is no mandate to close parks and no list of park closures on bills in the legislature.
