MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) - A North Texas chiropractor has been sentenced to sentences of 23 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing female patients.

The Collin County jury deliberated about five hours before sentencing 44-year-old David Allen Russell of McKinney. He had faced up to life in prison.

District Attorney Greg Willis says sentences of up to 15 years would be served simultaneously, but an eight-year sentence for indecency with a child would be served upon completion of the 15-year term.

Investigators say some victims were teenagers. Russell didn't testify during his trial involving abuse allegations between 2002 and 2011.
