SHERMAN, TX-School was in full swing in Texas as area students went back to the classroom Monday to start the new school year.

Sherman ISD saw an increase of students coming in their doors this year. Superintendent Dr. Al Hambrick said they now have more than 7,000 students enrolled in the district, 200 more than last year.

"We've had a very good start of the school year and I think it's one of the smoothest starts that we've seen. Everyone seems to be so pleased on how students are adjusting," he said.

Dr. Hambrick said, now that school has started, be mindful of kids while driving through school zones.
