Texoma air control towers safe from sequester cuts

ARDMORE, OK - After weeks of worrying about the federal governments sequester the Ardmore Air park has learned their control tower will stay open.

Last Friday the FAA announced that 149 control towers across the US including 4 in Oklahoma would close because of funding cuts.

Luckily for Texoma no local towers, including the tower in Ardmore, are on that chopping block.

Thirteen small Texas airports will lose staffing at their air traffic control facilities as the FAA works to trim more than 630 million dollars from its fiscal year budget.

Those airports will not be shut down but pilots will have to coordinate takeoffs and landings by radio with no help from the ground.
