3 students injured in Madill school bus accident

MADILL, OK - Three students are recovering after they were hurt in a Madill school bus accident last week.

A report states the accident happened last Wednesday, sometime between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

Madill Superindentent Jon Tuck said about twenty kids were on the bus and three of them suffered non-critical injuries.

Tuck said the bus was traveling on 10th St. trying to turn onto US-377.
At the same time, a truck was trying to make a wide turn onto 10th street from US-377.

Tuck said to get out of the path of the oncoming truck, the bus driver swerved, causing the back tire to go up onto a concrete barricade.

He said some of the passengers were thrown from their seats. Three of them were later taken to the Madill hospital, treated and released.

Tuck said the bus driver had turned in his two week notice and the day the accident happened was his last day at work.

The bus was not damaged in the accident and is still being used the by the school.
