Tips for a safe Halloween

ARDMORE, OK - Candy and costumes make Halloween every child's dream but it can quickly turn into a nightmare for parents.

AAA Oklahoma said a young pedestrian is four times as likely to get hit by a car on Halloween than any other night of the year.

Safety experts recommend to trick or treating while it's still light out. If you do go out after dark, be sure to dress in a costume where you can see and be seen by motorists.

AAA Oklahoma also recommends trick or treating with a flash light and in a group.

Drivers: slow down in neighborhoods and remain on high alert for kids crossing streets mid-block or between parked cars. Even though Oklahoma will still be on Daylight Saving Time Oct. 31, the sun will set about 6:30 p.m.
