Trespassers becoming problem for Hagerman Wildlife Refuge

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Trespassers are becoming a problem on the Hagerman Wildlife Refuge which has been closed due to the government shutdown.

Director Kathy Whaley said, "Some I think honestly did not realize that they were not allowed to walk in, the other couple probably did realize that they were not supposed to go in, but they decided to go in anyways and either probably fish or scout for hunting."

Director Whaley says Sunday a fisherman, fishing on the land, got a ticket for trespassing and other perpetrators have also been caught scouting for the upcoming deer hunting season.

Whaley says she hopes the refuge will re-open before that season begins November 1st.
