Sentencing reset for couple accused of owning deadly dog

ARDMORE, OK - The jury trial has been rescheduled for a Carter County couple accused of owning a dog that killed a man.

Rick and Lisa Grant of Ardmore were found guilty for the crime in September.

A Carter County jury then recommended a sentence of $5,000 fine each.

District Attorney Craig Ladd said the Grant's trial has been moved to the next jury term on Nov. 5.

Prosecutors said the couple's pit bull attacked and killed 50-year-old Virgil Cantrell as he approached their house.

When deputies arrived, they shot and kill the dog.
