LAMAR COUNTY, TX-- A study on the economic impact two major events have on Paris and Lamar County was released Wednesday with huge numbers.
The findings, done by Dr. Steven Schwiff from Texas A&M Commerce, showed the Tour de Paris, which is a one day event, brings in almost $115,000, while the two day ASA Archery Tournament brings in around $1.1 million of local spending.
The three most affected economic sectors by these events are retail, hotel and motels and food and beverage.
"To know that all the work that we do and all the personal dollars that we put into it is totally worthwhile," said Chamber President Melissa Cook.
The ASA Archery Tournament returns to Paris this weekend for it's 8th straight year. Thursday, there will be a chamber shootout to get ready for the tournament at the Love Civic Center in Paris.
