DENISON, TX - The Dension Police Department have arrested two men on charges of attempted bribery.

Investigators say 39-year-old Brad Palmer of Denison and 47-year-old Rodney Allen Winebrenner of West Lafayette Indiana were taken into custody yesterday as part of a drug investigation.

One of the narcotics officers was then contacted by a third party asking to get the case dropped for an undisclosed amount of money.

"In the weeks since then, an operation was setup to see if the person was actually trying to do this. In fact, yesterday, the officer did make an arrest on this person trying to bribe the officers," said Lieutenant Mike Eppler with the Denison Police Department.

The two suspects met with the narcotics officer at a business parking lot Monday and attempted to deliver several thousand dollars.

Palmer and Winebrenner were both arrested and charged with bribery of a public servant, which is a second degree felony.

Both men have since posted bond.

If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison.
